Great Power

Summary

Reaction GIF: whoa, laugh, what the fuck?, horrified, babyJonas is ready for another day at his training, but he still sees things "change". When he arrives to his training, very curiously he asks the giver about those changes. They were colors. Jonas was starting to see the color red! Then, the Giver gives him a memory of excruciating pain, which was a memory of a broken leg. Then the Giver shows Jonas an elephant hunt memory. Aside of all the cruelty and blood there was, there is another thing that impacts Jonas: People with different color of skin, which lets him know that there were races before.

Reactions

"We've never completely mastered Sameness. I suppose the genetic scientists are still hard at work trying to work the kinks out. Hair like Fiona's must drive them crazy"(95)
Why are these people trying to master sameness? They should be proud on how humanity was before. People who live there don't even know what they are doing. They seem like robots, with no purpose; just  condemned work all their lives for nothing.

Finale

I  wonder what would happen if people of the communities were given choices. Jonas mentions it in the book, saying it would be scary. But how would they know without even trying? Will Jonas and the Giver even try to change the community's faith?

The Chosen One

Summary

After Getting chosen as the reciever, Jonas finds out that there was another "Chosen One". He reads the rules for his job and one that impacts him a lot is Rule#7: You may Lie. When he arrives to his training, he meets a secretary, who tells him to open a locked door. If you had read the novel, you should know that there is no privacy, or differences in his community.  After all this new things, he finally meets his menTor,"The Giver". Jonas' training begins when the mentor gives him 3 memories:
Sun Memes - 152 resultsMemory of Snow and Sleds, Memory of Sunshine, and memory of Sunburn!
With This, Jonas starts thinking, Why would his community hide this beautiful things? The answer was simple. They brought problems.

"There's much more. All that goes Beyond- All that is Elswhere- and all that goes back, and back, and back. I recieved all of those, when I was selected. And here in this room, all alone, I re-experience them again, and again. It is how wisdom comes. And how we shape our future". I  I really think about this quote when reading. Why is "Elswhere" hidden form people? Maybe we will find out later in the book. This quote is really interesting too, because it gives us an idea of Everything the Giver knows.  Elswhere is something Jonas is really intruiged about. What will Happen when he finds out the ruth about it? Will it be bad or good?

What will happen next?

Will Jonas share his secrets? I think that Jonas will get on trouble for something. Or he could also share his knowledge to people, making the Government angry and he will fail as the chosen one!
Jonas is a really interesting character and is filled of questions that need to be answered.

The BIG moment The Giver chp. 6-8

Many new events happen during chapters 6-8. To start, Jonas now turns twelve, and this is the date when the ceremony happens. The book explains how sevens and eights secretly start learning to ride bikes so they are ready when they turn nine. Jonas attends the ceremony, always thinking about what will be his career and what does he not wants. When the chief gets to his turn, she skipps Jonas. This will lead to a lot of nervousness between people but his jobe finnally gets revealed; he is the next reciever of memory!

"Jonas bowed his head and searched trhough his mind. What had he done wrong?"(58)
This is a moment of the book where there is a lot of suspense, it makes the reader think what would appen to Jonas. Why did Jonas get so concerned? Did he actually do something wrong? These are some of the questions that poeople start thinking, and as it says in my paragraph above, this is where he gets skipped and at the end gets chosen ate the reciever of memory!

-"Jonas," she said, turning to him, but speaking in a voice the entire community could hear,"the training required of you involves pain. Physical Pain"-(62) Why did the chief elder say that? will Jonas' training risk his life? Will his life be changed for ever?! This might be revealed on my next post.

Discovering a New Life-The Giver Chapters 1-5

''The feelings you described as wanting? They are your first Stirrings''(37)
The Giver has been a really intriguing book. The primary character, Jonas lives in a perfect world. Life is perfect, people  fight and have no feelings. Jonas is growing and getting to the age of 12, when his Job for the rest of his life. While he grows up, he discovers he is different; Jonas starts seeing objects change. Then, the stirrings begin. This is where chapter 5 will end.

"As usual, at the morning ritual..."(34)
Why would they make this rituals? is one question asked a lot while reading. The rituals might be to let go feelings. Feelings are seen as bad to the community when they are trapped inside the person. They get ridd of feelings so people dont do "Stupid things". This way, they will control the community in a better way.

Why does the government hide emotions? Why are they so strict about them? Maybe jonas will try to get back the stirrings. Another thing that could happen is Jonas getting in trouble for them. Will Jonas Get a good carreer to work on the rest of his life? Will the Government try to hide Jonas for some reason on the ceremony of twelve? Find it out on the next post!
